Events 2008

Lynsted with Teynham W.I. meeting took place on May 7th at  Greenstreet Methodist church.

We could not use our usual venue at the community hall in Teynham due to building work.

Our president Mrs Bid Trim welcomed us to the meeting reminding us of how important the W.I was for friendship and support.

This meeting was our annual 'Resolutions' one where we have 2 important issues to vote on. The first was Prison Support, whether mental non violent crimes should come under a different catagory.  We had a lively discussion and it was generally agreed that secure mental facilities are needed and assessment before mentally ill are locked away in prison. The second was 'Ban on Bottom Trawling' where drag nets are used destroying the sea bed and marine life. After much discussion we felt we needed more information to be able to vote on this and it was left that our delegate was given a free hand to vote after gaining more information.

Other matters were discussed and dates for our diaries included, ladies who lunch, the book club, and top team quiz.  A coffee morning at Ann Diamonds to raise funds to get water to parts of Peru was also scheduled.  Marlene Disney has been busy arranging a bursary with W.I. funds to pay for 10 members to do a 4 session workshop with watercolour artist Paula Trower.

So lots happening!! Ladies if you would like to join us you will be made very welcome at the community hall in Station Rd, Teynham at 2.15pm on Wednesday 4th June.
